Biography
Michael A. Jimenez, Esq. is a seasoned litigator with a special focus on Public Law, Education Law, Labor and Employment Law, Land Use and Corporate Transactions and Business Law. He regularly represents individuals, municipalities, counties, authorities, and boards in a variety of litigation and compliance matters.
Mr. Jimenez also represents large real estate developers and owners, commercial entities, financial institutions, and public and private business organizations in a variety of transactional matters. These include real estate development, commercial and real estate financing, acquisitions, leasing, loan review, construction documentation, zoning and planning, land use, tax appeals, plenary retail liquor license transfers, purchase and sale of businesses.
Mr. Jimenez has successfully handled a wide variety of civil and criminal matters in the state and federal courts. He also has extensive experience in Local Public Contracts Law and Open Public Records Act matters.
Throughout his career, Mr. Jimenez has held a variety of public positions representing public sector clients as Rent Control Board Attorney, Alcoholic Beverage Control Board Attorney, Municipal Public Defender and Municipal Prosecutor in various municipalities throughout Hudson and Bergen counties.
Additionally, Mr. Jimenez has served as General Counsel to the North Bergen Board of Education, the Weehawken Board of Education and General Counsel/Labor Counsel to the Fairview Board of Education. He also served as Associate General Counsel to the Paterson Board of Education and the Hoboken Board of Education. In this capacity, he handled such matters as school board meetings, employee grievances, disciplinary hearings, student discipline, pupil records, public bidding, public contracts, family and medical leave disputes.
Immediately before joining Scarinci Hollenbeck in 2016, Mr. Jimenez was a named Partner at Ryglicki, Jimenez & Gillman, P.C. a general practice law firm in Hudson County.
