  • Eric A. LaMons serves as Counsel in the New York office of Scarinci Hollenbeck, LLC. He joined the firm after first practicing at Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP, in its highly regarded litigation department, before moving to boutique New York law firms, where he built a deep litigation background representing both individuals and large corporate clients across a wide range of legal issues.

    Mr. LaMons represents clients in matters involving financial agreements, commercial and international contracts, securities and investment contracts, real estate disputes, creditor’s rights, partnership disputes, product liability, insurance, and bankruptcy. He has represented Fortune 500 companies and closely held businesses across industries in matters spanning a range of complexities.

    He regularly litigates in state and federal courts and has appeared before national and international arbitration panels. Mr. LaMons manages all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, trial, post-trial briefing, appeal, and alternative dispute resolution. He also provides strategic counsel in negotiating settlements when appropriate or otherwise seeking to resolve disputes.

    His previous experience includes work on Capitol Hill and at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California, offering valuable insight into governmental and regulatory processes that often intersect with complex commercial litigation.

    • Successfully won a $100+ million dollar judgment after trial in state court, and then prevailed on the appeal, representing a hedge fund and its managers against a major bank sued on two credit default swap agreements involving mortgage-backed securities
    • Successfully won summary judgment in federal court representing a financier, with related companies and individuals, in a multi-million dollar dispute involving high-risk investment in oil and natural gas interests in Utica shale located in Ohio
    • Successfully negotiated a settlement in the clients’ favor representing a financial services technology company in state court in a dispute involving the operation of a securities trading execution management system using financial information exchange networks
    • Successfully won summary judgment to recover both current unpaid rent and full-term future rent, and other damages, in two actions in state court in representing a commercial landlord in actions to recover for breach of leases against commercial tenants
    • Successfully negotiated a settlement representing a company in state court in a dispute over ownership and management of ten Manhattan properties
    • Successfully reached a settlement representing a financier in federal court in a dispute over misrepresentations in solicitations of foreign investments
    • Successfully conducted arbitration hearings in Geneva representing an Eastern European supply company in disputes over exclusive agency agreements for the purchase of petrochemicals and polymers from Russian and European providers
    • Successfully litigated through appeal representing a supplier of beauty products in state court in a dispute over an exclusive distribution agreement and related contracts with a Paris-based distributor
    • Successfully conducted arbitration proceedings through the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution representing a company in a dispute over the scope of insurance coverage for asbestos-related claims
