Jorge R. de Armas, Counsel, is a member of Scarinci Hollenbeck’s Public Law group. Mr. de Armas has fifteen years of experience and demonstrated ability in the representation of corporate, individual, and government clients.
Mr. de Armas devotes his practice to the general legal representation of municipalities, counties, authorities and school boards focused on the day-to-day oversight and management of clients’ legal needs in a variety of matters including Open Public Records Act requests, Open Public Meetings Act, disciplinary hearings, and Public Contracts Law.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. de Armas worked as Senior Counsel at a Secaucus, NJ law firm where he regularly represented corporate, government and individual and government clients.
Mr. de Armas’ practice has also focused on issues involving regulatory compliance, insurance coverage, municipal governance as well as contract formation and negotiation. Mr. de Armas also has experience in the area of corporate transactions and business law in the construction and commercial real estate development industry.
Mr. de Armas also has extensive trial and appellate level litigation experience, having successfully represented clients before the Federal District Court of New Jersey, and the New Jersey Superior Court and Office of Administrative Law and the New York Supreme Court.
Early on in his career, Mr. de Armas also served as a law clerk to the Hon. Dorothea, O’C. Wefing, P.J.A.D. in the Superior Court of New Jersey Appellate Division.
Mr. de Armas received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, NJ. Mr. de Armas received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ, where he majored in Economics and History.
Mr. de Armas is actively involved in his community and currently serves as immediate past president of the Rotary Club of North Hudson and Mr. de Armas is the trustee for Hudson County for the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey.
