On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Angela A. Turiano, Partner and Chair of Scarinci Hollenbeck’s Litigation practice group, will speak on the PIABA mediation panel at the 2026 PIABA Annual Meeting in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The Public Investors Advocate Bar Association (PIABA) is the national bar association for attorneys who represent investors in disputes with the securities industry. Its Annual Meeting brings together securities arbitration and litigation practitioners, regulators, academics, experts, and mediators from across the country. Angela, who regularly represents financial institutions, broker-dealers, and their representatives in customer arbitrations and litigation, was invited to bring the defense perspective to the discussion. This marks her return to the PIABA program after speaking at the 2024 Annual Meeting in San Diego.
The PIABA mediation panel, scheduled for 4:25 PM to 5:25 PM, will walk attendees through the mediation process in FINRA and related investor disputes, from deciding when a case is ripe for mediation to mediator selection, preparation, negotiation, impasse, and settlement. With perspectives from investor counsel, defense counsel, and experienced securities mediators, the discussion will address:
The session will close with a rapid-fire round offering candid takes on common mediation strategies, mistakes, and emerging issues, with practical advocacy tips for both newer and experienced practitioners.
Angela will be joined on the panel by moderator August Iorio and fellow panelists Howard Tescher, Sean Sweeney, and Jeff Grubman.
“Mediation only works when both sides understand how the other evaluates a case,” Angela said. “PIABA’s willingness to bring the defense perspective into the room says a lot about the organization, and I’m glad to be back. The most useful conversations happen when investor counsel, defense counsel, and mediators compare notes candidly on what actually moves a dispute toward resolution.”
Angela’s participation in the PIABA mediation panel reflects her standing in the securities dispute resolution community and her commitment to advancing the practice on both sides of the table. She is a frequent speaker on securities litigation, arbitration, and regulatory topics, including recurring guest lectures on SEC Regulation Best Interest at Fordham University School of Law and the University of Miami School of Law.
Angela A. Turiano is a Partner at Scarinci Hollenbeck, LLC and Chair of the firm’s Litigation practice group. She has extensive experience in securities litigation and regulatory matters. She is known for her deep understanding of industry regulations and her ability to provide strategic legal counsel to financial services clients.
