Gary S. Young New Jersey partner at Scarinci Hollenbeck Attorney at law

Gary S. Young, Esq

Lyndhurst, NJ, March 9, 2016 – Eminent employment law attorney and Partner at Scarinci Hollenbeck Gary S. Young will present an informative discussion at the upcoming 2016 Restaurant Owners Conference. Mr. Young will address the need for owners and operators to conduct self-audits to insure that they are in full compliance with Equal Pay requirements under both federal and state laws. The event, hosted annually by the New Jersey Restaurant and Hospitality Association (NJRHA), is the leading New Jersey restaurant conference each year.

Mr. Young, as well as other speakers, will share their expertise on a range of topics pertinent to restaurant owners and operators including liquor licensing, workplace safety, food inspection, public relations and social media. This year’s agenda also features a Mixology Competition, which will give both up-and-coming and seasoned bartenders the opportunity to showcase their signature cocktails.

Mr. Young, who serves as NJRHA’s general counsel and who frequently lectures on ERISA and employment law issues, explains why the topic of Equal Pay Act discrimination is of particular importance to restaurant owners:

NJRHA 2015 Restaurant Operators Conference ROC“On both the federal and state levels, discrimination laws have been recently amended to place acute focus on equal pay and other discriminatory employment practices that negatively affect women. Discrimination is frequently perpetrated without specific intention.  It is important that restaurant owners and operators look behind their current practices to test whether their pay practices and policies run afoul of what our laws and our society now expect. Although I will be discussing this important issue with particular emphasis on the restaurant industry, these enhanced laws affect all other businesses as well.”

With more than four decades of labor law experience dealing extensively with ERISA, employee benefits and executive compensation as well as having earned the American Jurisprudence award, Mr. Young has made a name for himself in New Jersey’s restaurant industry.
