Ms. Barto’s aim for the young lawyers division group this year is to continue its focus of supporting new lawyers while increasing the group’s community involvement throughout Bergen County.
Ms. Barto first became involved with the Young Lawyers Division as a member during the 2012-2013 term at the insistence of colleagues who were already involved with the group, where she found it to be a positive and time-worthy way to become an active member of the Bar. Soon thereafter, Ms. Barto decided to pursue a leadership role within the group and went on to serve as an elected Secretary for the 2013-2014 term.
The YLD is designed to inspire lawyers who have practiced law for ten years or less to become more involved in the Bergen County legal community, to assist the community-at-large through pro-bono and community service efforts, and to promote the professional development of its members. In furtherance of these goals, the YLD hosts monthly seminars led by members of the Bergen County Bench on a variety of topics particularly suited to new lawyers. The group also participates in various charitable endeavors led by the Bergen County Bar Association.
Frances E. Barto’s focuses her practice on civil litigation and appeals. She has represented clients in a broad range of matters including breach of contract, fraud, conversion, civil rights, personal injury defense, and complex commercial litigation. She represents individual litigants, closely held businesses, and public entities throughout New Jersey in both State and Federal Court.
Ms. Barto is a graduate of Fordham University (B.A., Social Science, 2005); and Widener University School of Law (J.D., 2009). She was admitted to the New Jersey Bar and Pennsylvania Bar in 2009; United States District Court, District of New Jersey, 2009. She is currently a member of the Hudson County and Bergen County Bar Associations.
