Lyndhurst, N.J – April 18, 2016 – Kurt Watkins, an Associate at Scarinci Hollenbeck, will be among the panelists discussing New Jersey pensions at the Spring Conference of the New Jersey Municipal Management Association (NJMMA) to be held May 4-5, 2016 at the Breakers Hotel in Spring Lake. The NJMMA annual conference provides key updates to municipal management on the trends and laws that affect their operations. Having previously worked for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Mr. Watkins was invited to share his expertise in the often confusing and opaque language of IRS rules and regulations as they relate to public pensions. During the presentation, various cases before the Public Employees Retirement System of New Jersey will be discussed.
Mr. Watkins uses his tax background both from the IRS and the Tax Court of New Jersey as a foundation in his practice of corporate law. He provides sophisticated and nuanced support to the variety of issues mid-size corporations face. Because of the greater prominence of technology in the corporate environment, Mr. Watkins has recently expanded his general corporate practice to include Cyber-Security law.
The NJMMA is an organization of professional local government administrators and assistants whose goal is to improve the quality of local government in New Jersey through professional management. The Association creates an information network offering the free flow of ideas thereby enhancing each member’s ability to deal with the problems and pressures of the profession.
