Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate Attorney with 5+ years of real estate transactional experience to join our team. The successful candidate will represent developers, redevelopers, lenders, and commercial property owners in complex transactions and redevelopment projects throughout New Jersey. This position requires strong drafting and negotiation skills across all aspects of real estate transactions, as well as the confidence to manage projects from inception through closing or approval.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Represent clients in all phases of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, sales, leasing, financing, and redevelopment.
- Draft and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, loan documents, leases, easements, redevelopment and joint venture agreements.
- Assist Partners with preparation for closings and attend closings as needed.
- Conduct and oversee due diligence, including title, survey, and environmental review.
- Advise clients on land use and zoning matters, including site plan and variance applications under the NJ Municipal Land Use Law (MLUL).
- Review and prepare land use applications for submission to municipal agencies.
- Represent clients before planning boards, zoning boards and municipal governing bodies.
- Render oral and written legal advice to municipal officials, developers, and business clients on day-to-day real estate and land use related issues.
- Handle real estate-related disputes including prerogative writ actions, title challenges, and mediation, from inception to resolution.
- Conduct legal research and monitor legislative developments, advising clients on how new regulations may affect their projects.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Public Law, Environmental, Litigation) to address redevelopment, permitting, or transactional issues.
- Mentor junior associates, oversee workflow, and ensure accuracy in document drafting and client deliverables.
- Maintain comprehensive case files, billing records, and client communications in accordance with firm standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Required Skills
- Juris Doctoral degree from an accredited school of law.
- Admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey required.
- Admitted to practice in law in the State of New York a plus.
- 5+ years’ legal experience as an
- Demonstrated experience with New Jersey land-use, zoning, and redevelopment laws, including appearances before planning and zoning boards.
- Proven ability to manage complex commercial real estate transactions and communicate effectively with developers, lenders, and municipal officials.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and client-management skills.
- Existing client relationships or portable business preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a business-minded approach.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in LexisNexis, Westlaw, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and able to thrive in a collaborative environment.
- Uses the utmost discretion regarding sensitive company and confidential client information.
Work Schedule
- Full-time, exempt.
- Little Falls, NJ; Red Bank, NJ.
Salary
- Salary negotiated based on years’ experience and portable book of business.
