George A. McGowan, III, is a Partner in the firm’s Red Bank office. With more than 32 years of experience, Mr. McGowan concentrates his practice on trust and estate planning, trust and estate administration, corporate transactions, and real estate.
Mr. McGowan counsels individuals and families on all aspects of estate planning, including the preparation of wills, trusts, and related documents. He regularly advises executors and trustees on probate and trust administration matters, including beneficiary rights, fiduciary obligations, and related disputes.
On the corporate side, Mr. McGowan has represented privately held companies of all sizes in mergers and acquisitions, business formations, commercial contracts, technology and IT agreements, and lending arrangements, including secured, unsecured, specialty, and mezzanine financing transactions. He has managed transactions from negotiation through closing and has handled numerous sizable financing and credit matters. His experience also includes representing clients in commercial real estate purchases, sales, and leasing negotiations.
Earlier in his career, Mr. McGowan litigated civil and criminal matters before moving in-house, where he served in the Finance and IT departments of the General Counsel for two publicly traded companies. He has also represented technology startups and data center clients in their corporate and commercial legal matters.
After graduating from law school, Mr. McGowan served as a law clerk to the Honorable Patrick J. McGann, Jr. in the Superior Court, Chancery Division, General Equity and Probate, Monmouth County, New Jersey. While in law school, he interned with the Honorable Daniel Moore in the United States Bankruptcy Court in Newark, New Jersey.
Mr. McGowan earned his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law and his Bachelor of Science in Finance and Marketing from Manhattan College. He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Monmouth County Bar Association. Mr. McGowan is also a past founding board member of America’s Grow-A-Row and is a current advisory board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County.
