Little Falls, NJ – October 10, 2023 – Scarinci Hollenbeck is proud to announce that Daniel T. McKillop, Chair of the Firm’s Cannabis Law practice group, has been recognized in the 2023 Top 200 Cannabis Lawyers list by The Cannabis Law Report and Cannabis Law Journal.

The Cannabis Law Report and Cannabis Law Journal selected their list of top 200 cannabis practitioners around the world based on an annual survey of clients and lawyers in the cannabis legal services sector, as well as their editorial decisions and reporting on the industry for the past seven years. Scarinci Hollenbeck’s Dan McKillop Named to the 2023 Top 200 Cannabis Lawyers List

Mr. McKillop has served as Chair of the Firm’s Cannabis practice group since its inception in 2016. In recognition of his contributions and influence on the development of cannabis law in New Jersey, Mr. McKillop was named a 2018 Trailblazer in Cannabis Law by the National Law Journal. In 2023, Mr. McKillop was appointed by the NJSBA to serve as Co-Chair of the organization’s Cannabis Law Special Committee.

“The cannabis industry continues to evolve at lighting speed, and I am proud to be recognized as one of the world’s top attorneys to help clients meet those challenges,” said Mr. McKillop. 

Mr. McKillop represents current and prospective state-licensed cannabis businesses, as well as entities that serve the medical and adult-use industries. By staying at the forefront of new and changing regulations, his clients are able to advance their business goals while avoiding unnecessary risks.

Mr. McKillop is currently poised to help clients pursue new opportunities in both New Jersey and New York. Over the next few months, the application window will open for Social Equity and Diversely Owned entities seeking Wholesaler, Distributor, or Delivery Service licenses in New Jersey. In New York, applications for Cultivator, Processor, Distributor, Microbusiness, and Retail Dispensary license types became available October 4, 2023.

Daniel T. McKillop joined Scarinci Hollenbeck as Counsel in 2016, primarily handling environmental law matters. The following year, Mr. McKillop founded one of New Jersey’s first cannabis law practice groups and began counseling private entities regarding Federal, State and local cannabis law issues. He speaks extensively on panels covering a variety of developments in cannabis law and is a member of the New Jersey CannaBusiness Association, an Editor of the Cannabis Law Journal, and an executive member of the New Jersey State Bar Association Cannabis Law Special Committee.
