Promotions of three attorneys were announced for 2016
Lyndhurst, N.J – January 14, 2016 – Scarinci Hollenbeck has announced the promotions of Sean D. Dias to Partner and of Christina M. Michelson and Laura M. Miller to Counsel. All took effect as of January 1, 2016. The attorneys are based in the firm’s Lyndhurst, New Jersey office.
For over twenty-five years, Sean Dias has represented corporations and small businesses in all aspects of labor and employment law. He has appeared before federal and state agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, the New Jersey Department of Labor, and the National Labor Relations Board. Mr. Dias counsels clients on a wide variety of labor and employment matters, including claims under state and federal laws pertaining to discrimination, harassment, wrongful discharge, employee leaves, disability, ADA compliance, wage and hour violations, charges of unfair labor practices, restrictive covenants, social media and employee termination.
Christina Michelson devotes a majority of her litigation practice to the defense of employers. She also represents public employers in labor negotiations and handles tenure hearings for school districts. She has successfully represented clients before the New Jersey Superior Court and before administrative agencies. In addition, she regularly counsels clients on various employment issues regarding state and federal statutes. Ms. Michelson also conducts investigations of work-place allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination by employees. She was a recent presenter at the National Business Institute’s CLE program concerning legal research on the internet.
Laura Miller practices civil litigation, with an emphasis on public sector law. Her practice includes advising clients in the defense of civil rights claims brought pursuant to 42 U.S.C. §1981 and §1983, as well as claims invoking the New Jersey Tort Claims Act and the Open Public Records Act. Ms. Miller has defended both public and private clients in the state and federal courts, before the Office of Administrative Law, and in mediations and arbitrations in a wide range of matters, including employment defense, business law, construction, consumer fraud defense, and commercial real estate.
