John Scagnelli Named to NJDEP Site Remediation Team

John Scagnelli Named Chair of NJDEP's "Measures of Success" Team

John Scagnelli was selected by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (“NJDEP”) to serve on one of the four teams created as part of NJDEP’s current reform of the Site Remediation process begun under the Site Remediation Reform Act of 2009.

The four teams created by NJDEP include Guidance Documents, Technical Requirements for Site Remediation, Short Term Administrative Advice and Measures of Success. Mr. Scagnelli has been selected to serve as Chair of the Measures of Success Team.

Mr. Scagnelli’s team will assess the strengths and weaknesses of NJDEP’s Site Remediation Program and recommend changes to make it more effective. Points of consideration will include whether the environment is being protected, the impact of the program on economic development, the effectiveness of enforcement and the impact of the program on the pace of site cleanup. The Team’s recommendations will help shape and strengthen the Site Remediation Program going forward.

Mr. Scagnelli is Chair of the firm’s Environmental and Land Use Law Group.
